FAQ

Is it F-A-Qs or fæks ?

Great question. We don’t really know. We’ve heard it both ways.

Why are you called brooding sexy werewolves?

Wouldn’t you brood too if your former program were being destroyed?

No, but the rest of it? The sexy werewolves part?

It’s impolite to ask someone why they are sexy.

No, I mean, I apologize, but why are you werewolves?

We were bit by a sexy werewolf. Obviously.

What are you trying to do?

We’re trying tor raise awareness about the threat Hamline has made to sunset the MFA program and defund Water~Stone Review.

What does it mean to sunset a program?

It means that no one else will be admitted to the program, and after the last student graduates, the program will not exist.

But does that mean there will be no new sexy werewolves?

Hey! Only we get to call ourselves sexy werewolves. But yes, this means our community of writers will no longer be able to grow.

But isn’t the Hamline MFA the oldest one in the state?

That’s correct. You must have read our ABOUT US section.

Wait! Did you also say they want to defund Water~Stone Review? You don’t mean the award winning and well respected literary annual?

Yes, the very same Water~Stone Review.

Who would do such a thing?

This is the recommendation that Interim President Kathleen Murray and Interim Provost Andy Rundquist have made to the board of trustees.

Why would they do such a thing?

They claim it is due to a decline in enrollment. However, over the last year and a half there has been an increase in enrollment. And the program has met or exceeded the enrollment targets set by the provost.

What can we do to stop it?

Sign the petition! Email the interim leadership and the board of trustees! Post on social media! Maybe make silly viral videos that get noticed by Ryan Seacrest! And then Ryan Seacrest asks you to come on his TV show. And you ask if he still has a TV show. And he says, “No.” Check out our RESOURCES page.
